Megan Mawicke has been a licensed realtor for nearly 20 years and sold real estate in Chicago for a few years. A North Shore Native growing up in Kenilworth, Megan has deep roots in the real estate world. Her Barbara, was an icon in the local industry for nearly 45 years. She was the top- selling agent in Kenilworth almost every year for the past three decades, and was the FIRST North Shore real estate agent to achieve $1 Billion in career sales volume. Megan learned the art of real estate, the passion for homes/architecture/design and how building relationships with your clients is a top priority...from her mom at an early age!
"My mother was a trailblazer for this industry and a role model to working mothers, and she was an inspiration to me, my brother and so many other agents. She was all about people and truly valued relationships, and John and I are the same way. We are honored to carry on her legacy."
Megan Mawicke is a familiar face in the Chicagoland area as one of the longest-tenured female Sports Anchors and Reporters in the city. She was a TV Sports Anchor/Reporter for 22 years; 20 years on TV Chicago working for CBS Chicago, NBC Chicago, ABC and Fox Newtorks. She is a 3-time Emmy Award Winning journalist and a Peter Lisagor Award winner. In addition to her live game coverage, Mawicke made a name for herself in Chicago with her human-interest stories.
As a journalist, Megan is the ultimate communicator and can easily relate and adapt to buyers and sellers needs. She has extensive social media training for over 10 years on various platforms and is a savvy marketer and story teller of homes. She has deep knowlege of the North Shore community, school and history of the area being a local.
"Storytelling is such big part of selling homes, and I've been telling stories my entire career. There are great synergies between my work as a broadcast journalist and as a real estate agent, so this is a very natural transition for me."
Megan has covered all of the city's premier sporting events over the last 20 years, including a Cubs and White Sox World Series, the Cubs' White House visit, three Blackhawks Stanley Cup championships, the 2007 Bears Super Bowl game, Bulls Eastern Conference Finals, the NCAA Basketball Final Four and countess other premier events.
She kept her real estate license active throughout her broadcast career and brokered a number of transactions in downtown Chicago with another firm. With the support and encouragement of her mother, Megan began planning her new chapter with the Mawicke Group late ast year, a few months prior to Barbara's passing.
"We're excited to welcome Megan to @properties. Real estate is in her DNA, and like her mother, who was one of the most beloved and respected agents in our industry, she is passionate about serving the community. Megan is incredibly driven and accomplished, and she will be a fantastic addition to an already very successful team." - Michael Golden, co-founder of @atrproperties.
Megan attended New Trier High School where she was a two-time state tennis champion in doubles. She attended Indiana University on an athletic scholarship and won four Big Ten Women's Tennis championships. She obtained a master's degree from Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism.
