The "Christie's Lates": Introducing Millennials to Cutting-Edge Art and Luxury Real Estate
London's highly successful monthly events to welcome next generation of art and real estate buyers expands to Amsterdam
Amsterdam (October 19, 2016) – Christie’s International Real Estate, the luxury real estate arm of Christie’s, the world’s leading art business, has embarked on an innovative venture to interface in real time with the next wave of luxury buyers of both art and real estate. These events underscore the company’s high level of client and new client service, where Christie’s has exceled for more than 250 years.
Named “Christie’s Lates” these monthly affairs are targeted specifically to the young professional by keeping the doors of Christie's South Kensington open late on the first Tuesday of every month. All are invited to drop in for an after-work drink and hear experts talk about art, interior design and collecting in a collegial and informal setting. Real estate, another art form marketed under the Christie’s imprimatur, is also on prominent display.
The concept of the “Lates” was also expanded to Amsterdam this week. Christie’s International Real Estate and its exclusive Affiliates are proud sponsors in both locations: Strutt & Parker in the U.K. and Residence 365 in Amsterdam.
“There is an incredibly strong connection between art collecting and property and our enviable collaboration with the extremely popular Christie’s Lates in London has really demonstrated this natural synergy. Our clients – past, present and future - have found it fascinating to attend the events to learn more about the world of art. By opening its doors after hours to the public, the auction house has made its space, often perceived as rarefied and exclusive, accessible to a whole new audience - introducing them to the pleasures of collecting art and gorgeous things for their homes. The Christie’s Lates series show that it is never too early to start your own collection and art doesn’t need to be expensive to be beautiful.” - Lulu Egerton, Partner at Strutt & Parker
In London, whimsical themes for the “Lates” have run the gamut from floral design (appropriately dubbed “Flower Power”) to specialist insights on the ingeniously simple, “How to Look at a Painting.” In Amsterdam, the focus was “Food for Thought” – comic book art, small champagne houses and the philosophies of contemporary art.
“Art and real estate can be quite intimidating. The “Lates” allow us to assure new buyers that rather than being intimidating, purchasing art and real estate is actually creative and exciting. Christie’s and Christie’s International Real Estate understand the enduring value of personal relationships as trusted advisors.” - Hans Veenhuijsen, Director at Residence 365
