Sherry FitzGerald Announces the sale of Historic Abbeville in Kinsealy, Malahide, Co. Dublin

The sale of the former home of the US General Richard Montgomery, a close associate of George Washington, and the home of the late Taoiseach Charles Haughey and his family, has been announced by Sherry FitzGerald, Ireland’s exclusive affiliate of Christie’s International Real Estate. The sale was handled by David Ashmore.

Tom Kavanagh of Kavanagh Fennell, receiver for both Manor Park Homebuilders Limited & Termon Property Holdings Limited appointed Sherry FitzGerald to re-launch Abbeville in Kinsealy, Malahide, in May 2013. Located less than seven miles from Dublin city centre, Abbeville was offered for sale at a price of €5.5 million to include 250 acres. The estate has been sold in its entirety. The buyer who wishes to remain anonymous was introduced to Sherry FitzGerald by Kildare business woman Susan MacMillan O' Reilly.

Susan will now assemble the team that will restore the property to its former glory on behalf of her client, who is very much aware of the architectural, cultural and historical significance of Abbeville.

According to Sherry FitzGerald director David Ashmore: “Abbeville is a stunning private estate yet its proximity to Dublin and its international airport made it a particularly attractive property to both domestic and internationally based prospect buyers. Whilst it is a hugely important sale it is also extremely satisfying that the buyer appreciates the rich historical provenance and architectural merit of Abbeville and plans a comprehensive and sympathetic restoration”.
