The Unique Overlay of Art and Real Estate Unveils in Moscow for the First Time Under the Christie’s Brand in April 2013

Moscow, Russia — Never before has Christie’s International Real Estate’s network of Affiliates participated in this most exclusive of events in Moscow, attracting the very highest caliber of clients in a special preview of the major art highlights from Christie’s 2013 auction season.

The Spring Exhibition (April 24-26) is a preview of the most important art to be auctioned in New York, Hong Kong, and London during the highly anticipated spring and summer season. For the first time real estate will be strongly represented, too. Senior Representatives of Christie’s International Real Estate, the world’s only real estate network owned by a fine art auction house, together with its exclusive Affiliates from Greece (Ploumis-Sotiropoulos), Spain (Rimontgó), the Maldives (Dutch Docklands), San Francisco (Pacific Union International) and New York City (Brown Harris Stevens) will be on hand to provide expert advice on their international luxury property markets.

Throughout the duration of the event, a dedicated Christie’s International Real Estate branded lounge will showcase luxury residential property offerings and will be staffed with multilingual translators, affording top clients in Russia an appreciation of the global scope of the spectacular homes represented by the real estate network. On display will be digital, printed media, and video screens showcasing premium residential properties.

More than 500 people attended the April 2012 reception and a further 4,000 members of the public visited during the days of the public viewing. This year’s Spring Exhibition will be staged at the prestigious central Moscow venue, Spiridonov House with a major preview exhibition of masterpieces by the world’s most renowned artists.

Spaning 350 years of art history, the exhibition will showcase only the most exceptional art pieces after being carefully selected for this audience. For the first time, a room featuring magnificent 20th-Century photography will be included. Other art highlights from the 2013 exhibition will include Andre Derain’s Madame Matisse au kimono, Giovanni Antonio’s Canaletto The Molo, Venice, from the Bacino di San Marco, Burne-Jones’ Love among the Ruins, as well as Jan Steen’s Easy Come, Easy Go, which is estimated between £7 million–10 million.

Spiridonov House is a magnificent 19th-Century mansion which was a former residence of the Moscow State Councillor located close to the Kremlin. It was designed in 1895 by one of the most outstanding architects of his time Semen Eibushitz. After the Soviet Revolution in 1917 the mansion housed one of the first nurseries in Moscow and in 2008 it underwent a complete restoration and was converting it into a gallery.
