Christie's International Real Estate Sponsors Miami's Record-Breaking Art Wynwood Fair

Record crowds viewed real estate at this vibrant global venue showcasing contemporary murals, sculptures, street art and a vibrant display of works from the 60’s

NEW YORK, NY  – Christie’s International Real Estate -- along with 14 of its select Affiliates from around the world -- enjoyed a triumphant return as the “Official Luxury Real Estate Partner” of Art Wynwood. The world’s leading network of luxury real estate brokerages hosted an interactive booth and lounge at the entrance to the fair to showcase homes around the world. Fully staffed, guests also enjoyed one-on-one discussions about individual properties or, more generally, information about global destinations.

“Surrounded by a world-class display of contemporary art, the Art Miami and Art Wynwood venues have become one of the most unique marketing platforms for our high-end homes,” said Rick Moeser, Senior Vice President, Christie’s International Real Estate. “The number of visitors to our booth further underscores the fact that collectors of contemporary art are equally interested in fine real estate.”

Tens of thousands of art enthusiasts, including VIP collectors, designers, curators, gallery owners and art world luminaries, gathered in Miami for the international event, which has come to be known as the winter season’s premier art fair. The global Christie’s International Real Estate sponsorship coalition involved Affiliates from nine countries, including four states in the U.S. and five resort destinations in Florida.

Taking place Presidents Day Weekend, Art Wynwood featured an expansive collection of contemporary and modern works of art from 70 international galleries representing established and emerging artists in street art, murals, paintings, sculptures and mixed-media.

The 2016 installment of Art Wynwood featured an exhibit, “The 1960’s Will Blow Your Mind,” inclusive of Beatles-inspired works of art and models dressed in 60s-style fashions by Luis Valenzuela. On display, as well, were works by world-famous street artist, Banksy, and “Mr. Brainwash” as well as a spray-painted Ferrari and a photo exhibit titled “Irreconcilable Images” by “Shark Tank” host Kevin O’Leary, benefitting the Perry J. Cohen Foundation (PJCF).

Also drawing crowds of qualified buyers from across the globe Presidents’ Day Weekend in Miami was the city’s International Boat Show -- which exhibited more than 1,200 boats, priced upwards of $5 million -- as well as the inaugural Superyacht Miami Show, which showcased a collection of 20 multimillion dollar yachts worth a combined total of roughly $800 million.
