Magnificent Jewels Dazzle at Elegant Luncheon Sponsored by Hilton & Hyland, the Exclusive Affiliate in Beverly Hills

Beverly Hills, California – Christie’s announced that it is honored to have been entrusted with the private collection, Betsy Bloomingdale: A Life in Style, with property to be offered across two sales, beginning with iconic pieces of her personal jewelry collection in December 2016, with a dedicated auction to follow in Spring of 2017, both to be held at Christie’s New York.

A selection of the jewels - a stunning array from Harry Winston which included necklaces, bracelets, earrings and watches - were previewed along with other significant jewels and watches at an intimate private luncheon at the Regent Beverly Wilshire sponsored by Hilton & Hyland, the exclusive Affiliate of Christie’s International Real Estate. Art and real estate clients mingled among displays showcasing a portion of the collection from Mrs. Bloomingdale, who was synonymous with style, glamor, and philanthropy among Los Angeles society.

The second sale next spring will include the contents of Mrs. Bloomingdale’s Hollywood Regency villa, one of the final remaining extant and complete commissions by designer William Haines. The two auctions comprise approximately 300 lots of jewels, furniture, William Haines design, works of art, Chinese and European porcelain, pictures, and couture selections, and, combined, are expected to realize in excess of $3 million.
