Art Miami’s 2016 Edition Posts Yet Another Smashing Success in Engaging Qualified High Net Worth Buyers of Art and Real Estate

Context Art Miami, the Sister Fair for Emerging Artists, Attracts New Audience - Millennial Collectors

MIAMI, FLORIDA – The powerful convergence of art and real estate was on full display at Art Miami, the international jet-set destination for collectors from around the world.

For the fifth straight year, Christie’s International Real Estate and select network Affiliates served as the fair’s official real estate sponsor: EWM as the host sponsor; Brown Harris Stevens in New York and Palm Beach; Premier Estate Properties in Boca Raton; Hilton & Hyland of Beverly Hills; ReMind in Argentina; Regency of the Turks & Caicos; Chestnut Park in Toronto; Conlon in Chicago; One Caribbean in Barbados, and newest Affiliate, BlackStream of Greenville, South Carolina, which joined the network less than a month ago.

“The art and real estate connection has strengthened with each passing year. This year, one of our network’s founding Affiliates, Hilton & Hyland, worked hand in glove with our newest member, BlackStream. That in itself is a notable synergy. Attendees, most of which return for every fair, have also become accustomed to being greeted by our reception area at the main entrance. More and more are stopping by and increasingly engaged in real estate.”
Rick Moeser, Executive Director, Christie’s International Real Estate

More than 78,500 attendees over the course of the week streamed into the fair and passed the Christie’s International Real Estate reception area. Some 10,500 guests attended the opening VIP event. The fair featured works from some of the most important artists in the 20th and 21st centuries, including David Hockney, Josef Albers, Andy Warhol, Ed Ruscha, and Josef Albers. Academy Award- winning film star Adrian Brody, who has been garnering critical praise for his paintings, also had his work on display.

The success of the fair was further underscored by the significant sales achieved by participating galleries, including Munich-based Galerie Terminus who sold a $2.5-million Gerhard Richter, a $1.1-million Robert Rauschenerg, and a Frank Chamberlain for $900,000. London-based gallery ARCHEUS/POST-MODERN placed Josef Albers’ 1958 oil on Masonite Desert Dusk for $1 million to a prominent collector within the first hour of the VIP Preview, and later in the week, they placed Edward Ruscha’s Standard Stations for more than $1-million to a Californian collector. The gallery also saw the purchase of several works from Edward Ruscha, Bermar Venet, Frank Soto and Victor Vasarely to collectors from Puerto Rico and Brazil, for approximately $100,000 each.
