Legendary Irish-American Actress Maureen O’Hara’s Home in Cork, Ireland Has Sold to a UK Buyer

Exclusive Affiliate in Ireland Sherry FitzGerald Represented the Iconic Lugdine Park

Cork, Ireland Christie’s International Real Estate’s Exclusive Affiliate in Ireland, Sherry FitzGerald has sold the legendary home of actress Maureen O’Hara to a UK buyer. The five bedroom rural property was on the market for 1.85M Euros. For nearly forty-five years, Lugdine Park has been the Irish-American film actress and singer’s private retreat away from the limelight. Lugdine Park is set within approximately 35 acres of scenic grounds on West Cork’s magical coastline.

Lugdine Park is located on the periphery of Glengarriff Town on the Cork/Kerry border. Glengarriff is world renowned not only for its scenic beauty, but also its rich, vibrant culture. The area caters wonderfully for all those who value the outdoor lifestyle with vast expanses of some of the most stunning scenery the world over. The quaint town hugs Glengarriff bay making it an ideal location for boating enthusiasts. Lugdine Park is also nestled against the Glengarriff golf course.

Roseanne De Vere-Hunt, selling agent for the wonderful Lugdine Park was delighted to sell this iconic property on behalf of Maureen O’Hara. .”The exchange rate for UK Sterling is extremely strong against the Euro at the moment so there is great interest from the UK buyer in Irish properties, especially in the West Cork area as it has breath-taking sea views and an easy access through an International airport a short distance away.”

Joachim Wrang-Widen Senior Vice President at Christie’s International Real Estate for Europe, Middle East and Africa says “We notice a positive return of buyers in Ireland with country house buying still remaining somewhat more discretionary compared to the Dublin market. This part of Ireland has always been popular with international buyer and properties in scenic locations and with such notable provenance like the Lugdine Park, will always be highly sought after by the discerning buyer seeking that little extra.”

Silver screen legend Maureen O’Hara, acquired the property in 1970. During her career which has spanned over seventy-five years, she has starred in over sixty motion pictures including such critically acclaimed classics as Miracle on 34th Street (1947), The Quiet Man (1952) and was awarded the Honorary Academy Award in recognition of her lifetime contribution to film in 2014, by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science.
