Wild goats roam freely, sea birds nest on rocky shores, and the first roseate terns of the annual migration are commonly observed on Thatch Cay. Lizards, geckos, whistling frogs, and Puerto Rican racers find their homes among the foliage.

At the eastern end of the island, Thatch Cay reaches its 500' peak, offering unrivaled 360° views of the Atlantic Ocean to the north and St. Thomas to the south.
