The palace's origins date back to the 17th century, like other buildings in the square. It is said to have been the seat of the Pretura and other important institutions until the first half of the 19th century, when the building was bought by a family of hoteliers, originally from Armeno, who founded the famous Albergo Orta. Renovated and extended with some changes to the original structure of the 17th-century building, Albergo Orta has been closed for more than two decades and is in need of major structural work. The asset is well suited to be revalued as a charming accommodation facility or luxury relais with its own direct access to the lake. It comprises four floors, plus a habitable attic. Each floor offers an enchanting view of the island of San Giulio and the square. An elegant portico and a large window overlooking the lake embellish the building on the ground floor.
